Everything you ever wanted to know about your SPRIG:
WHAT’S IN THE KIT?
Our comprehensive kit includes all wood, windows, seals, and hardware required to assemble the camper, and our instructional videos and web forum provide clear step-by-step detail for each step of the process. The camper is designed to be assembled with no additional fabrication, and no special tools are required beyond a socket set, caulk gun and a cordless drill.
WHAT’S NOT IN THE KIT?
Aside from the tools mentioned above, you will need the utility trailer (available at nationwide discount tool retailer or via internet here), tape measure, misc. drill/hex/screwdriver bits, sealant, glue, sandpaper/blocks, masking tape cloth rollers and covers. We estimate the total additional costs to be around $350, (including the utility trailer) and we will provide a complete Bill of Materials and recommended supplies and helpful tools.
HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE/ HOW HARD IS IT TO BUILD?
It depends...I’ve sealed and assembled a standard kit solo in roughly 30 hours, but I designed the kit and have already built several of our current version. I’d say 35-50 hours for a standard build. With a helper, it could be completed in a long weekend, considering there may be some down time between finishing coats. We will provide you with an optimized process in our build guide to streamline your camper’s completion.
Feel free to take your time and customize as much as you want, though! We’ve got a few optional additions and an off-road version in the works.
IT’S MADE OF WOOD, IS IT DURABLE?
Yes, high quality, CNC machined, multi-ply Baltic Birch. All of our factory built campers utilize several coats of Marine grade urethane sealing for UV protection and waterproofing. This is available at any home improvement store, and can be applied easily with a roller.
Unlike aluminum-skinned campers, Birch campers can be easily sanded and touched-up if scratched or dinged. We use stainless hardware throughout, and the fenders are custom made by us in fiberglass or optional carbon fiber.
